  • GLS-160 Culture, Comm & Glbl Ctznshp (3 Credits)

Drawing on international and local Indigenous perspectives, this course will provide students with the opportunity to explore what it means to be a human being, and a global citizen within the context of complex intercultural interactions. Students will be challenged to reconsider their views on what is considered to be legitimate knowledge, "appropriate" ways of being, and what it means to communicate well with diverse others. Through critical reflection on historical and current world events, as well as their values and beliefs, students will be encouraged to develop compassion and empathy for others, a greater appreciation for and understanding of diversity, and a curiosity about other ways of being.
